CERTECH Cable is now in the FLUKE Tester

The CERTECH range of Network and Data Cables is now available in the Fluke tester (DSX5000 and DSX8000) and can be selected from the main list. CERTECH is currently the only Australian company in the Fluke Tester, making CERTECH the best choice for structured cabling in Australia.

Stay connected with CERTECH's range of Cat6 and Cat6A indoor and outdoor/external network and data cable. When you need an effective solution for those longer runs the CERTECH cable roll boxes are a perfect choice. Our easy pull  Network cable boxes allow for an easy and tangle-free install each and every time. If you need UTP, STP, F/UTP, U/FTP, S/FTP cable we have the range in a huge variety of colours.

Choosing the Right Cable

With so many different options out there it is important to choose the right cable to suit the correct application. The great news is the team at CERTECH is always available to help you choose the right cable.

Cat6 or Cat6A: Which Cable Type to Choose for Data Transmission?

When it comes to data cables, choosing between Cat6 and Cat6A depends on your specific requirements. Cat6 cables are suitable for most standard data transmission applications, offering reliable performance with data rates up to 10 Gigabit per second (Gbps). They are cost-effective and widely used in residential and small to medium-sized business setups.

On the other hand, Cat6A cables are designed to handle higher data transfer rates and offer better performance over longer distances. They support 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections up to 100 meters, making them ideal for larger organisations or scenarios where high-speed data transmission is crucial.

What is the Difference Between STP and UTP Data Cables?

STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) and UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) are two common types of data cables, and understanding their differences can help you choose the appropriate option for your needs.

UTP cables consist of four pairs of twisted copper wires that are not individually shielded. They are suitable for most general-purpose data transmission applications and offer good performance in environments with minimal electromagnetic interference (EMI).

STP cables, on the other hand, feature an additional metal foil or braided shield around the twisted pair wires. This shielding provides better protection against EMI and external interference, making STP cables more suitable for environments with higher interference levels, such as near power lines or in industrial settings.

External Data Cables and Weather Resistance:

External data cables, specifically designed for outdoor installations, are engineered to withstand various weather conditions, ensuring reliable data connectivity even in challenging environments. These cables are equipped with additional features to provide weather resistance.

Firstly, the outer jacket of external data cables is made from durable materials like polyethylene (PE) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that are resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and temperature fluctuations. This jacket protects the internal components of the cable from direct exposure to sunlight, rain, and other environmental elements.

Secondly, the conductors within external data cables are often made of solid copper or corrosion-resistant alloys to prevent rusting and ensure long-term performance.

Lastly, external data cables are built to withstand physical stress, such as impact and bending, making them more durable in outdoor installations where they may be subjected to rough handling or harsh weather conditions.

By choosing an external data cable, you can rely on its robust construction and weather-resistant features to maintain a stable and secure data connection, even in challenging outdoor environments.

We hope this information helps you make an informed decision when selecting between Cat6 and Cat6A data cables and understanding the differences between STP and UTP cables. Additionally, it sheds light on the key features that make external data cables capable of withstanding external weather conditions.
